I worked for one of the largest auto groups in the Kansas City area, as Salesperson, Internet Manager, and Finance Manager. Working bell-to-bell, 5 days a week, getting out of the dealership at 10 or 11 at night is no fun. The Finance Manager was the last to leave each night. As a Store Manager at CarHop, I work about 45 hours per week and have a family life again. And working with people with credit issues is rewarding. When the other dealerships turn their backs, we help people drive.

When I was looking for a sales position that would meet my needs, I had a friend that had just started with Car Hop. He called me and asked me if I was interested in selling cars. Knowing the industry well, I simply had no interest in working 55-65 hours a week and being a "commissioned" employee. He convinced me that Car Hop is totally different than conventional car dealerships and told me to at least come in and interview. I went to the interview with an open mind. I found out that Car Hop cares about their employees, limits the hours that their sales staff works to 40-45 per week, a base hourly salary is paid (not as a draw) and pays bonus based on performance. Almost 2 years later, I look back and ask myself one simple question. Would I take the job with Car Hop again? My answer is YES! I was promoted to Sales Manager within 6 months and have enjoyed coming to work every day.
